Pre-K 4 - Kindergarten

Sacred Heart’s Pre-Kindergarten 4 and Kindergarten program shape children’s academic, social, and emotional development. Young learners participate in interactive lessons that prepare them to successfully master future academic challenges. Students also learn how to work with others by communicating and sharing within peer groups. Students also enjoy weekly physical education, dance, song (from our Urban Voices program coordinated by the Metropolitan Opera), visual arts, and choir classes. 1st - 2nd Grades

First and second grade teachers use a variety of teaching techniques to bring students to a deeper understanding of math and ELA topics, challenging them to build upon their existing skills. Students have weekly gym classes and benefit from enrichment programs including song (from our Urban Voices program coordinated by the Metropolitan Opera), visual arts, and choir. The academic and arts curriculum are unified by a spiritual component to foster holistic development of each student. Here is an example of a typical 1st-2nd grade day at Sacred Heart:

3rd - 5th Grades

Third, fourth and fifth graders study musical composition with the New York Philharmonic and learn ballroom dances with Dancing Classrooms. Teachers ensure mastery of key math topics and, in ELA, students write longer, opinionated pieces so they can share their thoughts with others. As it is with all students in Sacred Heart, character and spiritual education unify all aspects of the curriculum. Here is an example of a typical 3rd-5th grade day at Sacred Heart:

6th - 8th Grades

Sacred Heart’s middle school prepares students for success in high school and beyond. Students delve into more challenging lessons in math, ELA, science, and social studies while learning to be role models for younger students. Middle school teachers frequently use our computer and science labs and iPads to enhance students’ educational experience. High school admissions guidance is available for seventh and eighth graders, resulting in impressive high school acceptance rates for our graduating class. Here is an example of a typical 6th-8th grade day at Sacred Heart:
