Education Through Music
Our younger students participate in the “Music and Movement” program that teaches rhythm and coordination through song and dance. Students use props to accompany their music and so receive a fully interactive experience.
Students have the option to pick out an instrument and rehearse weekly with a band instructor. Participants learn how to read notes and play their instrument individually while also working together. At the end of the school year, the band puts on a performance for parents.
After receiving a donation of violins in the spring of 2013, Sacred Heart is thrilled to begin a violin program in the 2013-2014 school year. This program will add depth to the school’s existing arts program, and offer students a chance to explore the discipline and reward that come with playing a musical instrument.
