Finding Your Part in the Partnership

The Partnership Junior Advisory Board volunteers draw holiday pictures with our students.

December 1, 2014

Here at Sacred Heart, we understand that closing the education gap is not just about providing an excellent education in the classroom, but also exposure and experiences outside the classroom. We are developing a volunteer base made of men and women who want a hands-on experience with Sacred Heart and our students, and we would love for you to join!

Sacred Heart offers a variety of ways you can help and connect our students to new experiences. You can organize a library, judge a spelling bee, supervise an after-school activity, participate in Career Day or simply read to our children. You can also connect your interests to our students whether through your association with a cultural institution, sports team, or profession. Volunteering is entirely up to you – it is impactful, personal and a thoughtful way to get involved in the lives of our students. We will work with you to figure out what makes the most sense for both you and our students.

For example, on a Saturday in November, members of the Partnership Junior Advisory Board volunteered for our (early) Holiday Party. While listening to Christmas music and getting into the holiday spirit, they drew pictures and wrote letters with our students. It was a great experience for both the volunteers and students!

Whether you have one hour every other month or every week, your time is valued and put to good use each and every time you lend a hand.

To learn more about how you can be part of Sacred Heart, please contact Sara Martinez, Admissions and Development Associate, smartinez@shhighbridge.org or call 718-293-4288 ext.1. We look forward to hearing from you!
